ClearCorrect & Invisalign®
Clear aligners are a good alternative for patients who want a straighter smile but do not want to wear traditional braces or for patients who just want to make minor corrections to their smile.
Clear orthodontic aligners are a good alternative to traditional braces when the appearance of braces is undesired. They can straighten teeth without the wires and brackets of traditional braces. Unlike traditional braces, the trays can be removed for brushing, flossing and eating. The aligners are made of a strong plastic material and are custom made to fit each patient's mouth.
In Clear Aligner Therapy, a series of aligners are made and each aligner in the sequence moves the teeth a little bit more into place until you eventually get straight teeth. Each tray must be worn by the patient for at least 22 hours a day to be effective and the aligner is worn for two to three weeks before changing to the next one. The treatment time required with aligners depends upon the severity of each case. In most situations, the aligners can straighten teeth in anywhere from six to 18 months. Treatment can take longer than this, however, especially with less than ideal compliance or in more complicated cases.
Clear orthodontic aligners are suitable for patients with mild or moderate crowding, or minor spacing issues. They may not be appropriate for patients with severe crowding or spacing. While the aligners can correct a mild bite problems, patients with more severe underbites, overbites or crossbites may require more advanced orthodontic treatment.
Advantages of Orthodontic Treatment with Clear Aligners
Advantages to using clear aligners include:
